Cloverleaf Connect is an innovative training provider offering a range of high-quality and creative courses to individuals and organisations wanting to improve their skills, knowledge, and understanding in areas such as advocacy, mental health and communications. 

 

A national training centre for City & Guilds and First Aid Awards Ltd, our accredited and non-accredited courses are designed and delivered by skilled and experienced trainers with extensive experience working in the public, private, and third sector, including health and social care. 

 

We work closely with organisations and individuals to ensure courses meet their needs, adapting content to ensure everyone gets the most out of their experience and gains the skills they need to carry out their role or progress within their career successfully.

Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice (City and Guilds) 

 

Unit 401 Principles and Practices of Independent Advocacy (CPD accredited) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 3 half-day sessions, all sessions must be attended to gain the CPD Certificate. 

Description: 

This unit forms the starting point for our training to support the City and Guilds Level 4 Independent Advocacy Qualification, which is made up of 3 mandatory and at least one optional unit. Learners must be employed in an independent advocacy role either on a paid or voluntary basis.

Active Listening Skills for Professionals (CPD Accredited) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 2 half-day sessions, both sessions must be attended to gain the CPD Certificate. 

Description:  

This course works well as a stand-alone course and has been successfully delivered to professionals and those with an interest in personal development.  

Active Listening is a highly valued, interpersonal skill that you can acquire and an essential part of effective communication. It includes developing a particular ethical way of being and using a framework of skills – both verbal and non-verbal which enable the speaker to feel both valued and heard. 

 

Active Listening skills are an important aspect of management, both interpersonal and intrapersonal. They are essential within mediation, conflict management and increasingly within support offered to those with mental health issues.  This course is highly interactive and participatory.

Conflict Management (CPD accredited) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 1 half-day session 

Description: 

This training is now open to anyone wishing to explore their own relationship with conflict, increase their management skills or add to their personal and professional development portfolio. 

The training aims to understand the term ‘conflict’, why it may arise and its different forms.

Professional Curiosity (CPD accredited) 

Training Session Delivery Information:

To explore and define the concept of being vulnerable. 

  • To explore and define the concept of being vulnerable. 

  • To understand how our own unconscious bias may place the vulnerable at risk. 

  • To explore ways of raising self-awareness. 

  • To explore professional curiosity and its relationship to adult safeguarding. 

  • To understand and challenge possible barriers to professional curiosity.

Introduction to Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 1 half-day session 

Description:  

The Introduction to IMHA training considers the role of the IMHA, provides practical guidance for engaging with advocacy partners and is a useful jargon buster to support IMHAs in practice. It provides information about key pieces of legislation and examines the interface between the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.  

 

The training is appropriate for colleagues who are new to the role, more experienced colleagues who are looking for a refresher and supervisors/managers who support others in the IMHA role.

Introduction to Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Training (IMCA) Training only 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 2 half-day sessions, both sessions must be attended to gain the CPD Certificate. 

Description: 

This training is for those new to the role of IMCA but who have already completed the Introduction to Advocacy Level 2 training and have some familiarity with the Relevant Person’s Role and the use of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. It is also appropriate as a refresher course for those returning to the role or who feel they would benefit from some further training and discussion.

Introduction to Care Act 2014 (Training only) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 2 half-day sessions, both sessions must be attended to gain the CPD Certificate. 

Description: 

This training is designed for those new to Independent Advocacy under the Care Act or for more experienced advocates who would benefit from a refresher course. 

The training explores the Principle of Well-being according to the Care Act and considers the responsibility of the Local Authority in relation to the individual. It explains the role of the Independent Advocate under the Care Act and key terminology.

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards / Relevant Person’s Representative (DoLS / RPR) 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 2 half-day sessions 

Description: 

The Mental Capacity Act allows restraint and restrictions to be used – but only if they are in a person's best interests. Extra safeguards are needed if the restrictions and restraints used will deprive a person of their liberty. These are called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. This training course is aimed at increasing knowledge of frontline professionals of DoLS.

Non-Instructed Advocacy (NIA) CPD Accredited 

Training Session Delivery Information: 

Delivered online via Zoom over 1 half-day session 

Description: 

The principle of Non-instructed advocacy is taking affirmative action with or on behalf of a person who is unable to instruct an advocate due to issues of capacity, comprehension and/or communication. The non-instructed advocate seeks to uphold the relevant person's rights and access their views and wishes.
